Privacy Policy

Effective July 18, 2026

SurfIQ (“SurfIQ,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Iadherence Inc. This policy explains what information the SurfIQ iOS app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the app, and we do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in (including Sign in with Apple), we store your name, email address, and an account identifier so we can create and secure your profile.
  • Location. With your permission, we use your device location to suggest nearby surf spots and relevant forecasts. Location is used while you use the app; you can disable it in iOS Settings at any time.
  • Photos. If you set a profile photo or share an image in the community, that image is uploaded and stored so it can be displayed.
  • Microphone & speech. If you choose to log a session by voice, we access the microphone and convert your speech to text to fill in your session answers. We do not record or store raw audio for any other purpose.
  • Content you create. Session logs, favorites, preferences, and community messages you send are stored so the app can function and so your data is available across sessions.
  • Usage information. Basic information about how you use the app (such as recommendations generated and features used) to operate and improve SurfIQ.

How we use your information

  • Provide surf forecasts, spot recommendations, and session logging.
  • Create and secure your account and personalize the experience.
  • Enable community messaging between people you connect with.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

How your information is shared

We use trusted service providers to run SurfIQ and share information with them only as needed to provide the app:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
  • StormGlass — provides marine forecast data. We send spot coordinates to retrieve forecasts; we do not send your personal information.
  • Apple — provides Sign in with Apple and app distribution.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We may disclose information if required by law.

Community content

SurfIQ lets you connect with other people and exchange messages and images. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. You can report content and block users from within the app, and we act on reports of abuse. Content you send is visible to the people in your conversation.

Data retention & your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request access to or deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at oldmansreport@gmail.com. You can control location, microphone, and photo permissions in iOS Settings.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

SurfIQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
